About the Event
Course is open to active and retired LE. Students from patrol or special operations are encouraged to attend. Class is designed to provide police officers and tactical operators with tactics and techniques when searching for or pursuing a suspect on foot in open, suburban or rough terrain. These tactics are quote different from building entry techniques. As technology and equipment continue to evolve, this course also incorporates the use of drones, Night Vision Goggles and K9s (if the agency requests) in capturing suspects. Tactical medical considerations are also reviewed as casualties in open or suburban/rural terrain are difficult to extricate and there may be a long time lapse due to distance, for evacuation.
Class incoprporates open field tactics, wooded terrain tactics and hilly terrain tactics. Recent incidents where these techniques and tactics were needed show very few agencies in the country are capable of performing them. Such incidents include multi-day armed suspect searches.
This class will occur in the day time with a night add-on option. Topics- Mission planning Medical planning P.A.C.E. (Primary, Alternate, Contingency, Emergency planning) Land Navigation Essentials, Unified Movement and tactics, Equipment, Communications. Multiple evolutions will be run so officers get the perspective as a team member and as team leader
